Built in the early sixties as a corporate retreat for New Era Potato Chips, Birchwood Inn has been carefully preserved by the innkeeper with the lodge aura intended by the builders. We welcome individual travelers and group gatherings alike. Birchwood Inn is perfect for family reunions, destination weddings, sporting groups, seminars, and of course, corporate retreats. The philosophy of the original builder, comfortable surroundings fosters friendships, is deeply held by the innkeeper today. Mornings begin with a complimentary continental breakfast, where you can chat with the innkeeper, get the forecast for the day and insider information on the area. There are many things to see and do in our neck of the woods, like exploring local beaches for Petoskey stones, visiting resort communities including Mackinaw, playing a round of golf on a championship course, or going on a guided kayak adventure. The best part however, is returning to the comfort of Birchwood Inn. Take some time to lounge by the pool in summer or sit in front of a roaring fire in winter. Fall is a colorful time to visit as well, the Inn is located at the beginning of the -Tunnel of Trees- a famous scenic drive along Lake Michigan. If you prefer springtime trillium and morel mushroom hunting, we have that covered, too. Whichever the season, the place to relax and enjoy your visit to Northern Michigan is Birchwood Inn. Daily housekeeping is available. Check-in is 3pm and check-out is 11am. Please check-in at the front desk of Birchwood Inn.
